I was checking something on Yahoo Finance( finance.yahoo.com/how-to-guide/personal-finance/29145 ) today when something on the page caught my eye. Under the "Most Popular Articles" column, the second link had the headline "Oceanic Completes First Phase of Mag and Sub-Bottom Profiling Marketwire - Mon, Jun 30 - 5:00am ET. "
Since my addiction to Lost is so advanced, I am constantly finding references to LOST appearing in my so-called real life Therefore, I was not sure if my interest in the article was legitimate or part of my addiction (How many of you can identify with me here? ). Unable to let it pass, I clicked on the link (biz.yahoo.com/iw/080630/0411446.html?.pf=personal-finance) to find this article.
I found some references in the article that could well refer to LOST (marine salvage and research, profile planning, forward performance, etc with no obligations, sonograms, Rose, Jamestown, chemical properties like carbon, wooden beam, FLA location, Safe Harbor, etc) there is nothing that is concrete. However there definitely was enough there to stimulate my interest and I followed up by clicking on the linked site. If you follow it yourselves, you will find a map and a stop-watch that look very very familiar. The site is "coming soon", although a link to find further information is there. I clicked on that and found that it was an email address: mailto:Info@oceanicrandr.com. So I emailed them the following - trying to walk a careful line incase this is a real legitimate company (I doubt it, but...):
(and to be safe I put in a spam disclaimer saying unless they respond otherwise I will not contact them again. One can't be too paranoid ... um...careful lately.)
If I hear back I will post further.
OK, and one more thing. Going back to the original yahoo financial page ( finance.yahoo.com/how-to-guide/personal-finance/29145 ) there is an advertisement with an 800 LB gorilla who looked familiar (The Middleman). Also, wasn't there a commercial with a gorilla during the finale?
I never ever click on links in flash ads, but this one time I did. It led to www.axa-equitable.com. Other than the gorilla, I didn't find too much to connect to LOST here. The only connection I found was in the video of Meeta - the woman who became unexpectedly unemployed after working at an airline company that went under. That doesn't mean anything, especially lately, but......
Do check out the gorilla's video on the home page. It is hysterical!
Anyway, if those of you who know far more than I do about ARG's would take a look at these sites, I would appreciate it. "Maybe this could be the start of something new."

Oceanic Completes First Phase of Mag and Sub-Bottom Profiling
Monday June 30, 5:00 am ET
LINDON, UT--(MARKET WIRE)--Jun 30, 2008 -- Oceanic Research and Recovery Inc. (Other OTC:ORRV.PK - News), a marine salvage and exploration company, today announced completion of the first phase of mag, sub-bottom, and side-scan profiling near its permitted "Woman Key" site in Key West, FL.
ORR team members and skilled divers, working with Sonographics, Inc., a Florida-based company, operated aboard the "R.V. Deepscan," the company's main research vessel, performing grid searches and logging several areas of interest within the ORR permitted area.
"Sonographics brings state-of-the-art technology and years of experience in underwater profiling, an essential part of our research," said William Shupe, ORR's President. "We will begin our second phase of profiling shortly and will focus primarily around our permitted area, the 'Kirby' site."
In 1988 a wooden beam was pulled from the "Kirby" site by the Jamestown Group, and carbon dating placed its origins in the 16th century. ORR has a survey and inventory permit to work in this area through its contract with the Rose/Wells group and plans to make the "Kirby" site a priority this dive season.

Dear People:
I am feeling LOST reading about your company in the yahoo financial retirement readiness page. I followed the link to your site, but as it is "coming soon" I am following the link on the page and contacting you for further information.
I will not be able to travel to CA anytime soon. Please let me know if you have recently advertised for volunteers. I am interested and hope you are recruiting people from the eastern shore of the USA.
Thank you
